Before anything else

Raff is a tool for running a shop: it keeps your stock, rings up your sales, and prints your paperwork, all on your own device. These terms say what you can expect from it and what remains yours to get right. The four that matter most while you are working are repeated in the app, under Settings › Terms of Use.

By downloading, installing or using Raff you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the app.

1. Your shop's data is yours — and your customers' data is your responsibility

You own everything you put into Raff: your products, stock counts, prices, orders, sales, and your customer records. We never see it.

Because those records are yours, so are the duties that come with them. Only record a customer's name, phone number, or balance where you have a lawful reason to, tell your customers what you keep about them, and honour a request to correct or delete it. Raff gives you the tools to export and delete; using them is your call.

2. Raff is a record, not an accountant

Receipts, invoices, tax figures, VAT returns and reports are built from the numbers you enter. Raff does the arithmetic faithfully; it does not know whether the inputs were right.

Checking that a document is correct, and that it meets the rules where you trade, is your responsibility. Raff is not accounting, tax or legal advice, and using it does not make you compliant with any tax authority by itself.

3. What the assistant produces is a draft

When you speak, photograph or scan something, Raff's on-device assistant turns it into an editable draft. Nothing is saved until you confirm it. Drafts can be wrong — a misread label, a transposed number, the wrong product of a similar name — so read before you confirm.

The money and stock arithmetic is ordinary code, not the assistant. The assistant reads and suggests; it never computes your totals.

4. Figures follow what you enter

Raff is a ledger. A count entered wrong is wrong on every screen that reads it until you correct it. Stocktake, the movement history and the audit trail exist so you can find and fix such a mistake — they cannot prevent one.

5. Payments go directly to your provider

If you connect a card payment provider, your customer's card details and the money itself go straight to that provider over an encrypted connection. Raff never holds funds, never touches a card number, and is not a payment service or a money transmitter.

Your agreement with that provider is separate from this one. Refunds, chargebacks, settlement times, fees and disputes are between you and them.

6. Customer credit is your arrangement

Recording a credit sale creates a balance in your own book. It is a note of what a customer owes you, under whatever arrangement the two of you have. Raff does not lend money, does not guarantee a balance, and takes no part in collecting one.

7. Sync and backup run through your own iCloud

Raff keeps a copy of your data in your personal iCloud account so it is backed up and stays in step across your own Apple devices. That copy is held by Apple under Apple's terms.

Keep your own exports as well. Settings › Data can write a full backup file or CSV tables at any time, and a backup you hold yourself is the one that does not depend on anybody else.

8. Prohibited uses

Do not use Raff to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, or to keep records about people without a lawful basis for holding them. Do not use the assistant to produce unlawful, deceptive, harmful or abusive content.

9. No warranty

Raff is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows.

It is not liable for lost or corrupted data, incorrect totals, stock that went uncounted, a receipt or label that did not print, a message that was not delivered, a payment that did not complete, or a disagreement with a customer, a member of staff, or a supplier.

10. Third-party components

Raff is built on open-source software published under its own licenses. Using the app does not transfer any rights in those components to you beyond what those licenses grant.

The on-device assistant is built on open-source components distributed under the Apache License 2.0 and the MIT License, and card payments are handled by a component distributed under the MIT License. The full texts and copyright notices are at raff-app.com/licenses.

The models the assistant loads are downloaded to your device from their publishers and are used under those publishers' own terms.

11. Age and jurisdiction

Raff is a business tool for shop owners and their staff, not a product for children. By using it you confirm you are of legal age to run or work in a business where you are, and that your use of it is lawful there. If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.

12. Changes to these terms

These terms may change as the app changes. When they do, the updated version appears on this page with a new date, and material changes are noted in the app's release notes. Continuing to use Raff after an update means you accept the updated terms.
